We came to the tournament in April 2025 with my daughter. We landed in Trieste and rented a car directly at the airport — a choice that turned out to be essential, because during the week we realized that taxis in Croatia are really expensive. If you don’t find accommodation close to the club, getting around can be complicated. We were about ten minutes away by car, so having our own vehicle was indispensable.
The area around the club is very convenient: there are three large supermarkets just a short walk away and, about ten minutes on foot, a beautiful beach with crystal-clear water where you can relax during free time. The club offers many clay courts, all quite close to each other, which makes internal movement very easy.
One less positive aspect is the club’s bar, which is very small. On windy days there wasn’t enough space for everyone and we often had to dress as if it were winter. The wind lifted a lot of clay, making the courts almost like hard courts with holes. There were at least two days when playing was practically impossible, yet matches were not stopped. The kids played with clay in their eyes and in really tough conditions.
Another point to consider is the cost of water: in Croatia it is surprisingly expensive, especially in bars and shops near the club. Also, there is no gym or wall to warm up on. For training we had to move to nearby clubs, which is not always convenient when there are many matches during the day.
Overall, the tournament is held in a beautiful and practical location, but it would benefit from more facilities for the players, more covered areas, and better management of windy days. With a few improvements, it could truly become one of the most enjoyable tournaments of the season.
